A Forest Scene

Since I just came back from a reception for a couple of my cousins and I was thinking about how much my family has grown, I thought about my Dad. Today I'm posting one of his paintings he did not finish, this is actually one of my Mom's favorites. I imagine that there would have been a deer on the rock in the center, or maybe a bear by the river; and he would have signed it in the bottom right corner and dated it.
The reason why I have two photos of this painting are because I couldn't tell if it looked better with or without a flash. The first photo is with the flash, the second is without.

This painting looks like some place that I would go camping in the Rocky Mountains, I swear that I'm going to find it someday. Until then, Happy Imagining!

I'll Be Back... I Promise!

I just want to let everyone know that my next blog post will probably be next Monday. I've been a little busy lately, but, I will be back. Until then, Happy Imagining!

Preview of the Mystery Project!

This is just a preview of a project I'm working on with my husband. As you can see, we are using the Styrofoam packing blocks you would find in any box that needs cushions; so, of course, that means that we are saving money by reusing something we would throw away, and we are helping the environment by recycling. I will say that this has something to do with a bearded dragon that I do not have yet. This will be my first tutorial, I will explain what materials are needed and the steps to build this thing.

Stay tuned. Happy Imagining!

One of My Favorites

I am definitely not a photographer, but I like to take pictures. This was taken on May 7, 2009. I really like this picture because it wasn't planned, I mean, I literally sat down on a bench on the 16th Street Mall, saw this scene and took the picture. I'm looking Southwest down 16th Street, you can see the Colorado State Capitol with its gold dome and a full Moon (or almost full Moon). I like how everything is lit up, the clouds over the Moon and the trees aren't fully bloomed yet. The buildings frame the picture perfectly and the Capitol dome and the Moon balance each other.

Pretty cool picture, huh? Feel free to comment or share stuff on the Caliradan Facebook page. I must go. Happy Imagining!

The Noid!

This was just recently found in some of the family stuff (I don't want to call it junk because it's not, it has a purpose). In the late 80's, my Dad liked the Noid, and he had this keyring with the Noid on it. The paint is wearing on his nose, but, other than that, he looks pretty good. It makes me smile when I look at it, so my mom hung him up in my Cool Cat Craft Room.

Well, pizza is ready. Happy Imagining!

Wedding Invitation

These are my wedding invitations, the top one is the front and the bottom one is the back, they are 5.5" x 4.25". The color we chose was blue (obviously). My brides maids wore blue dresses, there were blue decorations, blue and white cake and I had blue hair. I kinda went with a retro 50's theme, but I didn't over do it, it's not like we looked like we stepped out of Grease (though, that would have been awesome). A simple outdoor wedding with a dance party afterwards.

The Jeep Wrangler on the front of the invitation is my Jeep. This is a resent picture, taken Labor Day weekend while camping in the Colorado Rocky Mountains. I've had the Jeep for 12 years and thought that she should make an appearance on the invite.
Of course, I had to drive the Jeep on my wedding day. Here's a picture of my husband and I at the back of the Jeep. That was a long, hot day. 99 degrees at the airport, so I imagine it was probably about 100+ degrees where we were at. But, it was great, I married a wonderful man!

Dino Skeleton

I like finding junk. I like it when I find stuff on the ground that catches my interest (of course, I would love to find a $20.00 on the ground, but that hasn't happened yet). I found this in our backyard, just laying there halfway in the dirt. Now, the interesting thing about the house my husband and I bought is that hoarders use to live in it. It is very evident when you walk around our yard and look at the ground, little pieces of junk everywhere!

This piece that I found is a little plastic toy, I have never seen a plastic dinosaur skeleton, but it is very cool! It's rigid, and from being in the dirt for awhile, it almost looks like an actual miniature dino skeleton.

Have a good one. Happy Imagining!

Dad's Collage Piece

This is the first of many from my Dad. I figured this was a good day to start posting my father's work because it's my birthday. He is the reason why I have been so interested in creating... anything. He made models for special effects (SFX) in films, this was before computer graphics (CG). He painted, he could draw, he would take junk and turn it into something awesome.

This piece I posted here is a collage of some of his models and paintings. There is an article in the upper right-hand corner, the picture is of my dad and I (of course, many years ago). I think that he made this collage to promote himself at different conventions.

Well, I must run. Happy Imagining!

007

This painting is not quite finished yet, I get stuck on the bottle, I can't seem to paint it right. Can you guess who this is? The title of this blog post probably gave it away. It is James Bond, specifically Sean Connery. I think it has turned out nice, besides the fact that I get stuck on the bottle. I still have a ways to go, and so many other ideas for other paintings. I will share the finished product... once I get there. Happy imagining!

Polymer Clay Robots and Toadstool

Here are a few samples of some polymer clay figures I have made, a couple of robots holding hearts and a green toadstool.
I put the green robot on my key chain next to Squirt. Yes, that is a R2D2 and C3PO house key!

VP of Fluff, MadCat

This is MadCat, the Vice President of Fluff. He's 13 and I've had him since he was an teeney tiny kitten. He's a bit obnoxious, but he's really a lover. I've named him VP of Fluff because he's very fluffy.

President of Pretty, Lakini

This is Lakini, I call her the President of Pretty. She is about 17 and I've had her since I was 15. She is one of the nicest cats I know, she just looks very serious. I have decided to name her the President of Pretty because, well, she's pretty.
