Birthday Pool Party Invitations

Here are the birthday invitations for Tommy and Kelly's birthday pool party. I really like the shark, think I did a great job on it. I like the mermaid too, it really surprised me, it turned out better than I thought it would.

As you can see, I took out some information on the invitations, its gone for safety. The general public doesn't need to know when and where this pool party is happening, and they don't need my friends number. The one thing that I thought I could have made better was the gradient in the background. I thought the blue at the bottom may have been too dark, but you could still read the info after it was printed. My friend said the gradient looked fine.

I must go, have many things to do and a little one to look after; very busy, but please stay tuned. Happy Imagining!

The Birthday Shark

I've been busy, taking care of a baby is busy work. Right now, I'm designing a birthday party invitation for my Godson, Tommy, and Kelly, his little sister. Their birthdays are 5 days apart, but they are 6 years apart. This is the shark for the invitation, the theme is underwater because it's a pool party. For Kelly's portion of the invitation, the design theme will be mermaids.

I also have a wedding that I'm going to be in this Saturday for my very good friend, my Sis Janice. I'm tired, but I do promise that I will be coming back and blogging more. I know I say that a lot, but, I think things are starting to lighten up.

Stay tuned. Happy Imagining!

Happy New Year! Now to Get Back at It!

It has been a long time since I have posted on my blog. I was pregnant, then had my baby girl on October 17th. It is awesome, I love her very much! It can also be exhausting, which is to be expected since this is my first child.

I will be back with projects, I am starting to get back to normal and am getting use to toting a little one along with me. And, maybe someday, she will be my little helper.

My husband and I are Star Wars fans and named our daughter Mara Jade. He has read a lot of the expanded universe books, and that is how we came up with our daughters name. For anyone who has read the Star Wars books, they know Mara Jade is Luke Skywalker's wife. I won't go into her whole story, you can Google it.

Happy New Year to everyone. Happy Imagining!

Final Sneak Peek: X-Mas 2013

I really do love graphic design. I'll admit that sometimes I do get a bit aggravated with it sometimes, but on the whole, I really do enjoy designing on a computer. Now, this is not saying that I don't enjoy painting or taking pictures or crafting... or even fixing up things. I love creating things and imagining up what I want to do next. OK, ok... I'm rambling on.

This is a screen shot of a corner of my Christmas card for this year. I am just about done, I have to have it approved by my husband (since his name is on it too).

Alright, I better get back to organizing. I'm on a path to organization, it's a very long path. Happy Imagining!

X-Mas Card 2011

This is one of my favorite Christmas cards, it's from the year 2011. I designed it, then, after work one day, I printed them on some paper that was given to me by a salesman that I worked with at the time. I like the way they turned out. The front is on the left and the back on the right. They are 5.5" x 4.25", printed 4 on a page, front and back.

I can make cards or invitations... or anything printed for that matter. I just need a little time to design and for proof reading, which means it would be too late for me to make Christmas cards for you for this Christmas. I usually like to start right before Halloween, but I can start on them at the beginning of November.

Please contact me for any design needs, send me a message on this blog. Email: the.wright.amber.dawn@gmail.com. Facebook: facebook.com/caliradan. Twitter: twitter.com/caliradan. Instagram: instagram.com/caliradan. Happy Imagining!

Preview of X-mas 2013

I've been busy with the kitchen project that I almost forgot to start on my Christmas cards. Here's a preview of what I started working on. I like to work in Adobe Illustrator, I know most people like to work in Photoshop, but I guess that's one thing that makes me a little different. I've been designing my own Christmas cards since 2009, I started because I worked in a print shop and I would see customers who did their own personalized Christmas cards. I thought that was a great idea, so I designed my Christmas card during off hours and I would use the left-over paper from big print jobs. I don't work in a print shop anymore, but I haven't stopped designing and printing my own Christmas cards. I'll probably do this for the rest of my life.

Please feel free to get a hold of me for any creative needs. Do remember that if things are time sensitive that they should be started earlier so that they can be done on time. I haven't officially started my own business or freelance, but I am willing to start. I'm on Facebook, facebook.com/caliradan. Follow me on Twitter, twitter.com/caliradan. Follow me on Instagram, instagram.com/caliradan. Happy Imagining!

Birth Announcements

This is a birth announcement that I made for my friend's, Jessica, little girl. The size is 5.5" x 8.5" and the theme is obviously violet butterflies. I just thought there for a second, "I would have made my Color Theory teacher very happy by saying violet and not purple." It seems like that all I do for Graphic Design are things like this; greeting cards, invitations, announcements, and so on... but I like it.

Kelly was a tiny, cute baby... she still is very cute, but not a baby anymore.

Feel free to contact me if you need any sort of digital graphics done for your personal life or business, just send me a message and we will go from there. Happy Imagining!

Wedding Invitation

These are my wedding invitations, the top one is the front and the bottom one is the back, they are 5.5" x 4.25". The color we chose was blue (obviously). My brides maids wore blue dresses, there were blue decorations, blue and white cake and I had blue hair. I kinda went with a retro 50's theme, but I didn't over do it, it's not like we looked like we stepped out of Grease (though, that would have been awesome). A simple outdoor wedding with a dance party afterwards.

The Jeep Wrangler on the front of the invitation is my Jeep. This is a resent picture, taken Labor Day weekend while camping in the Colorado Rocky Mountains. I've had the Jeep for 12 years and thought that she should make an appearance on the invite.
Of course, I had to drive the Jeep on my wedding day. Here's a picture of my husband and I at the back of the Jeep. That was a long, hot day. 99 degrees at the airport, so I imagine it was probably about 100+ degrees where we were at. But, it was great, I married a wonderful man!

Birthday Invitations

I do a little graphic design, not like I use to when working at different sign and print shops. About a couple of weeks before my friend's kids birthdays, she asked if I could make invitations. Here are the results. The card was 4.25" x 5.5" (4 up, for easy printing on a home printer), double-sided (Tommy's on one side, Kelly's on the other). I drew everything in Illustrator, except the pink border, the Angry Birds themselves and their title.
